Vintage-inspired destination wedding at Château de Mairy

On a warm July evening, Molly and Sam gathered thirty of their closest loved ones at the seventeenth-century Château de Mairy, turning the quiet hamlet of Mairy-sur-Marne into the setting for an intimate destination wedding. Muted blue and petal-pink accents, lifted by layers of white blooms and lush greenery, echoed the French countryside palette the couple had always envisioned for a day described in their own words as “romantic, intentional, elegant, vintage, intimate.”

The ceremony unfolded in the château’s centuries-old private chapel. Histoires Sauvages arranged loose garden roses, canterbury bells, peonies, and greenery that softened weathered stone while mirroring the bride’s lace gown. A lace-draped altar and a string trio underscored the sense of period-drama romance Molly adores. The vows blended Catholic tradition with the couple’s own promises, striking the balance of history and individuality they had hoped for.

Cocktail hour flowed into a single, candlelit banquet table set under magnificent trees, a tableau Molly had dreamed of, complete with a gauzy linen runner, taper candles, and lush centerpieces accented with fruit, captured flawlessly by Daria Lorman. Guests lingered over regional courses and local champagne before cheering as Molly and Sam poured a gleaming coupe tower, her “champagne tower in Champagne” wish come true.

After dinner, market lights twinkled over the château courtyard, and the newlyweds invited everyone to enjoy vintage yard games, including pétanque and foosball. Dessert was a study in French indulgence: traditional croquembouche, a playful nod to the region’s pâtisserie heritage. The evening settled into easy conversation, soft music, and the glow of taper flames flickering against the centuries-old stone.
